The 144th annual Kentucky Derby proved to be a day that will not soon be forgotten at Churchill Downs Racetrack.
The 2018 edition of “The best two minutes in sports” was the wettest on record, with flash flood warnings taking place throughout the day in Louisville.
Despite a muddy track, the odds-on favorite Justify (5-2 odds) crossed the finish line first, beating Good Magic by 2 1/2 lengths to be crowned champion of The Run for the Roses. With the win, Justify brought home $1.24 million in prize money.
Justify wasn’t the only winner on Derby day, though.
Big Game Air’s inaugural trip to the marquee event was an overwhelming success. Our group — which featured five planes from Chicago and New York — enjoyed a white-glove experience from wheels up to touch down back in their home city.
Clients enjoyed the amenities of private aviation to Louisville, before being escorted to Churchill Downs in executive ground transportation. Once on the ground, our group enjoyed the view from their seats in the Winner’s Circle — the most prestigious area for individuals to watch the Derby (all while enjoying open bar and a gourmet buffet under covered seating).
After cashing out their winnings, clients were shuttled back to the airport via limo bus and sent back in style on private planes. It was truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish – and one none of us will soon forget.
