Mark Twain famously once said, “History doesn’t repeat itself … but it often rhymes.”
Isn’t that the truth.
The concept for Big Game Air came about shortly before our CEO and his wife were expecting their first baby. He wanted to attend a major college football game, but also didn’t want to leave his wife alone overnight. A quick same-day trip with BGA assured that this would not be the case.
Fast forward to this September. Former Chicago Bears Pro Bowler Jerry Azumah was set to fly with us to the Bears showdown with the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football at historic Lambeau Field.
Jerry’s concern? His wife was nine months pregnant. In the midst of a lighting storm, Jerry made the quick trip with us to the game and returned home at 1:30 a.m.
A few short hours later, his wives’ water broke and the family was on their way to the hospital — ready to welcome their second son into the world.
The 45-minute flight back from Green Bay to Chicago ensured Jerry was home and able to see the birth of his son. Although his team lost in a rainstorm to the Packers, it’s a night Jerry will never, ever forget.
